Where are the piononos from?
Published:
Piononos are a traditional dessert that originated in the town of Santa Fe, located near the city of Granada in the Andalusia region of Spain. The creation of piononos is credited to a local pastry chef named Mr. Enrique García, who first made them in the late 19th century. The dessert is named after Pope Pius IX, whose visit to the town inspired the creation of this sweet treat. Piononos consist of a small sponge cake base, filled with sweet cream and rolled into a cylindrical shape. They are then dusted with powdered sugar and cinnamon, creating a delightful combination of textures and flavors. Today, piononos are considered a specialty of Santa Fe and are enjoyed by locals and visitors alike.
