How to get tickets for the Alhambra

Dear guest, the Alhambra is a monumental complex on an Andalusian palatial city located in Granada. It consists of a set of old palaces, gardens and fortress initially conceived to house the emir and the court of the Nasrid Kingdom, later as a Castilian royal residence and its representatives. It was on the list for the election of the new 7 Wonders of the World, but finally did not get that name.

You can buy your tickets to the Alhambra through one of these 7 ways:

1. By Internet, through the official sales page.

2. By phone.

3. At the ticket office the same day if the tickets are not sold out.

4. Buying a Guided Tour of the Alhambra.

5. Buying a Tourist Voucher.

6. Through a travel agency that is an authorized agent.

 

General admission costs 14 euros (includes access to all open spaces).

Tickets sell out quickly. It is best to buy tickets at least a month before your visit.

 

Warning: During the purchase you have to choose a specific time to see the Nasrid Palaces. This is done in order to control the number of visitors in that part of the Alhambra.

Tickets for the Alhambra can be purchased from 2 hours before entering the Nasrid palaces, up to 1 year before the date of the visit.

 You can enter the Alhambra at any time (from 08:30) on the day of your visit, but the entry time to the Nasrid Palaces is mandatory.

 

▸ The first step is to indicate the number of tickets and if any of the tickets have a discount: for example, if it is for a person over 65, if there are children and what age, students, etc ...

 

▸ Children under 12 years old enter FREE, but you have to include them in the number of tickets you buy and they must be accompanied by an adult.

 

▸ When selecting the day, in the next step, you must choose the time of entry to the Nasrid Palaces.

 

▸ You can buy tickets to the Alhambra on the official website of the Patronato de la Alhambra y el Generalife: tickets.alhambra-patronato.es.

 

▸ Collect the tickets at the direct sales ticket offices, the vending machines located next to the main entrance to the monument or at the ATMs and terminals authorized by the Board of Trustees.

The person who made the purchase must do it, presenting an official identification document and the bank card with which they paid.

If you want to get group tickets for both the Alhambra and the Generalife, you need to make a reservation.

The procedure to collect tickets and reserve is the same as through the Internet.

If tickets were available on the day of your visit, you could buy them directly at the monument's ticket offices up to 2 hours before the Nasrid Palaces entry time.

However, keep in mind that you may have to endure long lines and when your turn comes there will be no more tickets.

To find out if there are tickets available on the day of your visit, before approaching the ticket offices, go to the official ticket sales website (tickets.alhambra-patronato.es) and check it out.

There are visits to the Alhambra for 18 euros, but they include only the tickets, not even the audio guide. It is the same as buying an official ticket, but it costs only 14 euros.

Others may cost 40 euros, but include only the audio guide and it can be rented at the door of the Alhambra for only 6 euros.

 Other guided tours include only the Generalife Gardens and the Alcazaba.

It is important to check the list of sites included in the route and if the guide is a natural person.

The Tourist Voucher (Granada Card) includes entry to the Alhambra and other main monuments of Granada, a trip by tourist train and trips in Granada city buses.
