An absolute highlight: "El Balcón de Europa"
Published:
"The Balcony of Europe" is one of the main highlights of our region and whole Andalusia. Simply its spectacular outlook makes this place so unique. Watching a sunset or sunrise in this location is an absolute unforgettable experience, which you definitely don’t want to miss! But of course, you can enjoy fantastic views during any time of the day. So please don’t forget to bring your camera! This place is ideal for strawling around, watching people passing by, and imagine all the events that have taken place in this magnificent place. This rock owns its name to the Spanish King Alfonso XII, who visited the area after a devastating earthquake in 1885. He saw the stunning scenery and said "this is truely the balcon of Europe". But most importantly you should not forget to enjoy the delicious local gastronomy in one of the many close-by restaurants, cafés or ice cream parlors. We could easily spend some hours here trying some dishes of the very creative, traditional and mouth-watering Andalusian cuisine. Forexample, just have a look at how tas ty a “boring” vegetable soap can become, when a Chef prepares it: https://www.grandesvillas.com/a-typical-andalusian-dish-the-gazpacho/ If you haven’t fallen in love with Gazpacho yet, it is about time! There is nothing more refreshing and good on a hot and sunny day. Ok, cold beer not taken into consideration. The great news is that of course you can enjoy some refreshing ice cold drinks and cocktails with family and friends, as well. You might be thinking first about sangria, when thinking about typical Spanish drinks, but there is so much more to discover. “Tinto de Verano” for example, which is only one of many treats waiting for you to be explored. *link for tinto de verano is coming soon* Entry: free Location: Plaza Balcón de Europa, 29780 Nerja, Provincia de Málaga
How to get there: Highway A7 and B-340, about 30 minutes from Salobreña and 20 minutes from Almuñecar &La Herradura.
